International Labour Organization Start & Improve Your Business Program Description
Welcome to the Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) Training of Trainers workshop! The SIYB programme is a programme developed by the ILO and implemented in over 100 countries with the objective of supporting emerging entrepreneurs to start and improve management of their businesses.
Participating in this online SIYB ToT workshop will enable you to independently conduct SIYB training of entrepreneurs seminars in your country. This Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) online Trainer development programme was designed to fulfil the basic requirements for SIYB trainer certification, the requirements of the SIYB programme delivery and the needs of the targeted trainers.
You will be expected to complete a number of assignments designed to align the trainer skills to the SIYB programme delivery requirements. Participants will be introduced to the SIYB modules, selection and needs assessment criteria, adult learning principles, facilitation techniques and training methods.
The Trainer development process entails the following steps;
Pre-workshop: The assignments to prepare for the workshop include completing a knowledge assessment, reviewing the GYB & SYB materials and preparing a business plan. Face-to face (Zoom sessions): Participants will attend Zoom sessions of 3 hours a day for 8 days. At the end of the workshop each participants will submit an Action plans to guide certification activities. Certification: Participants will be required to prepare for and conduct one supervised training of entrepreneurs for certification; in Generate Your Business Idea.
GYB & SYB trainer candidates who are selected need to full-fill the minimum requirement for Trainer selection which is a combination of at least two out of the four elements below: 1. Tertiary Level Education 2. Business Development Service provision experience 3. Experience with adult education and facilitation 4. Own business experience.
